More logistics investments for Dunkirk

SFAN (Société Foncière Axe Nord) is to build a 42,000 m2 warehouse and a high bay cool store with space for 66,000 pallets under controlled temperature in the Port of Dunkirk

The investments will be made in the Logistics Zone in the western part of the port, close to the ferry terminal and the container terminal. SFAN has had a presence in the port for a number of years and has a programme worth €60M to build latest generation warehouses and DCs there.

The new 42,000 m2 ambient warehouse will be built in the International Logistics Zone. Under a separate agreement with the port authority, the high-bay reefer cross-docking facility, with an overall height of 43m, will be built in the Port Rapide area, directly between the container (Terminal de Flandres) and ferry terminals. This is aimed at the agri-food industry.

On 20th June, the Port of Dunkirk will officially inaugurate the 500m long extension to the deep water quay at Terminal de Flandres. The terminal’s STS cranes were long-travelled along the new rails into this extension for the first time on 19th April. The linear quay is now 1,785m long, of which almost 1,000m is dredged to -17.30m, so the terminal can now accommodate two mega container vessels in excess of 400m LOA simultaneously at any state of the tide.
