WACT was one of the first public private partnership terminals in Nigeria.

Officials and dignitaries from West Africa Container Terminal (WACT), the Nigeria Customs Service, the Oil & Gas Free Zones Authority, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, and Onne Port visited WACT this week celebrate the commissioning of two new Liebherr mobile harbour cranes.

WACT is located at Onne Port, in Rivers State, Nigeria, and operated by APM Terminals. It receives geared vessels and has an annual capacity of 314,000 TEU. Volume growth has been in the double digits for the last two and half years and the new cranes will enable the port to manage the growth while improving berth productivity and vessel turn around times.

Other new equipment at WACT includes 10 terminal tractors and two reach stackers. With a depth alongside of 12m the terminal can handle vessels up to 4,500 TEU.
